Indonesia has executed eight men convicted of drugs offences but reprieves Mary Jane Veloso. A surprise last-minute reprieved Mary Jane Veloso after the Indonesian Attorney General responded to calls from Manila that she should be spared to act as a witness against the woman expected to be charged with trafficking her. Alleged recruiter of Mary Jane Veloso, Maria Kristina Sergio, also known as Mary Christine Gulles Pasadilla, has turned herself in to the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office in Cabanatuan City. Sergio said she gave up to the police because she was fearing for her life after she was tagged as the recruiter who facilitated Veloso’s entry into Indonesia. The suspect was with her live-in partner Julius Lacanilao when she went to the police.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed before the Department of Justice on Monday a complaint for illegal recruitment, human trafficking and estafa against Sergio, Lacanilao, and an African national known only as Ike.

The Department of Justice has set the preliminary investigation on Sergio and Lacanilao on May 8 and 14. (Source: Inquirer.Net

Thanks God for saving her life but sad about the other eight suspects who were already executed. May they all rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers goes to their families and loved ones.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”  Psalms 46:1
